INTRODUCTION
SHORT INTRODUCTION TO WOMBOURN CTC
We are a small local club with about 20 members ranging in age from 20 to 80. Our club is situated in the village of Wombourn on the Western side of the West Midlands conurbation about 5 miles South West of Wolverhampton. Even though we are this close to the built up area we have access to some lovely countryside, from the flatish plains towards Newport and Stafford to the more challenging hills west across the Severn valley. On occasion we head even into the city of Birmingham as there are excellant cycle routes via the Black Country Canal network so we can avoid much of the main roads making for a surprisingly pleasant trip!
On Sundays there is almost always a club ride, normally starting outside the parish church in
Church Road, Wombourn. Our rides normally start at 9.30AM during the winter months or 9AM during the summer (unless
otherwise stated- see Our Rides and Events page for further information
about start times and where our ride is off to).
Half day rides will get you back into Wombourn early afternoon, full day rides generally arrive back late afternoon/ early evening; on these we normally stop in a pub for lunch, you are advised to bring your own sandwiches as all pubs do not serve meals.
There is also a weekly Friday evening meeting at our clubroom, at the THE HAND IN HAND, Church Road, Wombourn, next to the church. We meet at 9 PM for an informal chat, during the winter period (September to April) we also hold film shows (slides, cine, print and video), which start earlier at 8.30 PM. Please check our Rides and Events page for futher information of what we have on.
